The life of this organization requires a board of directors immediately.
Quick facts:
There are no board members of HIWTA.
There are some small bills due, and sufficient funds to pay them [see financial details below] but money cannot be accessed without a new, member-approved signature. The two former board members with their names on the account have refused to write any checks or handle money in any way, since they are resigned (legality concerns.)
We have checks that need to be deposited and checks that need to be written immediately. We must have a treasurer and a president to do so. They MUST be elected by the current members of HIWTA.
David is working with new volunteers, Jonah Baker and Louis Rawlins to transfer the site to a new server. and a member fronted the money ($96) for that to happen. She will need to be reimbursed as soon as possible. Thanks! and Many Thanks! to these helpers.
The former board was made up of people who were not officially paid members of the association. Although there was earlier provision made for the member not to pay dues, because of his contribution in other ways, this is still not possible in compliance with our Bylaws. The board must be made up of current (paid) association members.
Grant writer and community volunteer, Walker Sanders has offered to assist the new board in developing clear procedures and processes.
We currently have +/-41 paid members. The voting and the board members must come from this population (or additional people who renew their membership today. Yearly dues are $75) Website presence and other affiliate privileges will be only for paid members.

WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER:
We are a coalition of Healing Island service providers who can support ourselves and our community to prosper. All of us are volunteers with a common vision. Julia is creating this “total transparency” website for us all to access, making sure everyone is fully informed about all HIWTA business, including the facilitated meeting which took place last weekend in Waimea.
Thanks for helping rebirth HIWTA.
