Mission statements were read from the Bylaws (2 sets) and the brochure of HIWTA as follows:

(BROCHURE)

Our mission is to help direct the sustainable development of health and wellness travel on Hawaii Island.  We support our members with education and training, standards and guidelines, networking, media outreach and promotion.  HIWTA recognizes excellence in wellness travel and through our website, in-bound travelers can plan their wellness vacations in Hawaii.

(BYLAWS - both have the same Mission Statement)

Section 2.1  Mission
The Association’s mission is to contribute to the economic health of our community through the development and promotion of Hawaii Island as a world-class health and wellness travel destination, emphasizing Hawaii’s diverse culture, sacred land and Aloha spirit.
Couldn't Make the Meeting?

The Board of Directors will be addressing the By-Laws when the time comes... They would appreciate any of your comments, suggestions, or advice.  Anyone especially familiar with these procedures wanting to volunteer?

It was noted by Beth, our facilitator, and the Hawaii County Grants Specialist, that our mission statements differ, and that we must clarify what our mission is, in order to move ahead in establishing our Association in whatever way we ultimately choose to identify ourselves.

She said that having conflicting mission statements in our documents and materials will matter in funding decisions from her perspective.
